What is Advertising ID?

The Advertising ID is a unique code Android assigns to your device so apps and ad networks can build an interest profile of you across different apps. It exists purely for ad targeting.

You can delete it entirely: Settings → Security & privacy → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID. Apps still show ads afterwards, just not ones targeted through that identifier.
