What is Optimized Battery Charging?

Optimized Battery Charging slows charging past 80% until just before you normally wake up, reducing the time the battery spends at full charge — the state that ages lithium batteries fastest.

It's on by default under Settings → Battery → Charging. Newer iPhones can also hard-cap charging at a chosen percentage for maximum long-term battery health.
