What are Live Photos?

Live Photos capture 1.5 seconds of video and sound on either side of every still photo, letting you pick a better frame afterwards or turn the moment into a loop or long exposure.

Toggle them with the concentric-circles icon in the Camera app. Note they roughly double a photo's file size — if iCloud storage is tight, shooting stills only helps.
