What is Haptic Feedback? - illustrated definition card

Haptic feedback is the small, precise vibration your phone makes when you type, toggle a switch, or long-press an icon. On iPhone it's produced by the Taptic Engine, which can simulate clicks with surprising accuracy.

Adjust or disable it under Settings → Sounds & Haptics, including keyboard haptics specifically. Turning haptics off slightly extends battery life and makes typing silent in both senses.
