What is AirDrop?

AirDrop is Apple's wireless file-sharing feature that sends photos, videos and documents directly between nearby Apple devices using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi — no internet or cables required.

Control who can send you files under Settings → General → AirDrop: Receiving Off, Contacts Only, or Everyone for 10 Minutes. Contacts Only is the sensible default; it blocks strangers in public places from sending you unwanted images.
