What is Dual-Band Wi-Fi?

Dual-band routers broadcast on two frequencies: 2.4 GHz travels further through walls but is slower and congested; 5 GHz is much faster but shorter-ranged. Tri-band adds 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E/7) for even more speed near the router.

Most modern routers merge the bands under one name and steer devices automatically. Video calls and streaming boxes benefit most from being on 5 GHz or wired.
