What is WPA2?

WPA2 has been the workhorse of Wi-Fi security since 2004: it encrypts the traffic between your devices and router using a shared passphrase. It remains acceptable when WPA3 isn't available.

What matters most is the mode: use WPA2-AES (CCMP), never the older TKIP option, and never WEP or an open network — both are trivially crackable today.
