What is Cache?

A cache is a stash of already-downloaded data an app or browser keeps so the next visit is faster: images, scripts, thumbnails, video segments.

Caches occasionally hold onto broken or outdated files, which is why "clear the cache" is a universal troubleshooting step — it deletes nothing important, and the app simply re-downloads what it needs.
