What is USB Debugging?

USB Debugging lets a computer send commands to your Android phone over a cable — used by developers, backup tools and repair software to control the device at a deeper level than normal file transfer.

It lives inside Developer Options. Leave it off unless a specific task needs it: with it enabled, any computer you plug into (and approve) gains significant control over the phone.
