What is Activity Monitor?

Activity Monitor is the Mac's Task Manager: live CPU, memory, energy, disk and network usage per app, plus a Force Quit button for anything beachballing.

Find it in Applications → Utilities (or via Spotlight). The Energy tab is uniquely useful on laptops — it names the apps draining your battery fastest.
