What is Dolby Vision?

What is Dolby Vision? - illustrated definition card

Dolby Vision is a premium HDR format that carries scene-by-scene (even frame-by-frame) instructions telling your TV exactly how to display brightness and colour, adapting to the set's capabilities.

Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+ use it widely. Your TV badge or picture settings will say when it's active; if a Dolby Vision title looks dim, the TV's brightness settings for the Dolby Vision picture mode are adjusted separately from the normal modes.
