What is Refresh Rate?

Refresh rate is how many times per second a screen redraws, in hertz. 60 Hz is standard; 120 Hz makes motion — scrolling, sport, games — visibly smoother.

For gaming, pair a 120 Hz TV with a console's performance mode and enable the TV's Game Mode; VRR (variable refresh rate) then syncs the screen to the console frame-by-frame to eliminate stutter and tearing.
